Prof. Dr. Kurt Wagemann

Kurt Wagemann studied chemistry in Munich and received his PhD in 1989 based on research work at the Max-Planck-Institute for Quantum Optics.

Since 1989 he headed some of the large departments at the DECHEMA- Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, as those for Research Planning, Congresses and for Research Management and Administration.

In 2010 he took over the position of DECHEMA’s executive director.

Regularly he operates as an expert for the evaluation of research institutions and currently he is chairman of the life science jury for the EXIST programme (Business Start-up grants) of the BMWi (Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy).

Furthermore he serves as a member of advisory boards of research institutes and networks.

Moreover he is a coordinator of the Kopernikus-Project Power-to-X, a funding initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Since 2010 he fulfills a teaching assignment at the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg. In 2011 he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Stuttgart.
